My approaches to healing
My clinical work is collaborative, relationally-focused, and rooted in a psychoanalytic (psychodynamic) psychotherapy framework, which is an evidence-based treatment and theory of mind. This approach allows people to develop insights and skills to improve relationships, effectively manage challenging and overwhelming emotions, and to understand conflicts in various areas of life. Because this approach requires in depth and sustained work together, meetings are scheduled once weekly or more frequently. While I provide both in-person and telehealth video session options, I recommend in-person sessions if possible, as this provides the best environment to fully express and address one’s concerns.
Central to this approach is my effort to create a safe, respectful, and nonjudgmental therapy space that allows for new possibilities and meaningful and lasting personal change. I can help you to understand distressing relational patterns and also build new patterns of relating to yourself and others.
I believe meaningful and lasting change is possible through the power of psychotherapy. If you are considering therapy, I encourage you to contact me to schedule an initial consultation where we can identify areas of strength as well as areas of desired improvement. I tailor treatment to your unique needs and focus on generating positive change through the therapy relationship. All patients are welcome.
Valuing your time, I think it useful to know services that are not a part of my work. I provide individual psychotherapy to adult clients one or more times per week. I do not provide: treatment limited to specific conditions (ADHD or OCD, for example); problem-focused treatment (such as EMDR or DBT); couples therapy; or psychiatric assessments or treatment plans supporting medical procedures (bariatric or other mental health clearance), mental health disability, work accommodations, or additional legal determinations.
